Barry Richards
Barry is a 48 year old, farmer/rancher from Hayes County who has witnessed the erosion of our representation in out-state Nebraska over the years. He is full of the energy it will take to reverse that trend and to do away with the same ol'-same ol' that we have been complaining about for so long. He stands up for what actually makes Nebraska the good life - the “little people”.
What makes Barry such an appealing candidate is his tireless attitude of fairness and his stubborn ability to take things head on and stand up to the status quo. He will come up with real solutions to the problems of the state like implementing the Transaction Tax. There is no compromising of positions. You know exactly where he stands on every issue.
Barry also has the uncanny ability to see things coming down the line well in advance of most people. He can read the inside story that is often hidden behind the headlines and exposes the real story before the media seems to want you to know it.
Barry became a Christian 3 years ago and wants to be the spark that ignites Nebraska’s little people to realize the power they have and to put God back into our schools and government. He wants to base all of the answers to the states problems with WWJD.
Barry feels the need to show compassion and love when dealing with hard times. He also believes that building people up honestly is the best way out of any problem and yet he will be firm with those that are just out to use people and then fly away. Barry says no more of the new golden rule that states: Those with the gold make the rules”. That has gone on for so long that we just hand out incentives right and left to corporations who are out for themselves but they do it under the guise of helping Nebraskans. This has come about by way of L.B. 775. I am out to put an end to the L.B. 775 tax incentive program so that honest, hard working folks can use their own hard earned money as they see fit instead of it being taken from them through over-taxation and given to corporations for their private gain. He does not believe the taxpayers should be enslaved into providing “public funding for private profit.”
Barry will work for you and not against you. He believes that we can all get along if we are lead and not pushed and shoved into action to solve present and future problems. Barry admits that almost everyone knows how government has worked in the past but then he questions if anyone has a true idea of how it could work if we would just allow new people into politics. Barry is sick and tired of hearing one politician after another say that we are going to revamp our state agencies and find savings to help run our sate or provide money to education- have you ever followed up on one of these cost-savings adventures and actually received any benefit of that adventure? Generally, the finding of these solutions costs more than the savings can replace. We need out with the old and in with the new “honest” ones. Barry just wants to educate Nebraska citizens that there is new territory out there where the “little people” rule and that will allow common sense to be a little more common.
Finally, he believes in taking care of the homefolk so that the home folk can take care of us. He feels we need to love one another as commanded by God and learn how not to be greedy with what God has given us but to live and let live by letting the next generation have a chance to live, love and grow as well.
In closing, Barry just want you to know that he doesn’t live in a dream world, but at the same time it is hard to get people to realize how it could be because it is never allowed to come about. He is asking you for your support if you also feel the need for change.
Barry believes in keeping things simple so that everyone can understand what is demanded of them instead of making things so complicated that you become a criminal without even knowing it. He is definitely for “local control” and says, “Whose school is it anyway and whose county is it anyway and whose state is it anyway?" He answers those questions with this: “The little people’s.”
